All AimHi-New Albany Shooting Range firearms instruction is conducted with a strong commitment to safety and the understanding that everyone's comfort level around firearms varies.

We make learning easy in our-stress free environment, with a touch of humor to keep things relaxed. We offer the most detailed, hands-on handgun training in central Ohio. We keep the classes small, so you get all the personal attention you need.

All classes are taught and/or monitored by an NRA Training Counselor or OPOTA School Commander with the assistance of NRA*, OPOTA*, or NAFI* certified firearm instructors. Chances are, if you have taken a course anywhere else in central Ohio, your Instructor was trained by the Instructors at AimHi-New Albany Shooting Range.

Youth First Shots Class

Youth First Shots Classes are geared for youth ages 10 to 16 to help them learn and understand the basic safety rules relating to all firearms. Youth education is a requirement of any safety program.

Educating kids concerning firearms will give them the knowledge they need should they ever be in a situation involving a firearm where an adult is not present.

We have designed this class based on the NRA safety rules. We have added to and expanded those safety rules. In addition to firearm safety, your youth will learn the following:

  • Fundamentals of shooting a rifle.
  • Safety Rules for handling long guns and handguns.
  • The characteristics of a .22 caliber rifle and its operation.
  • Firing a .22 caliber rifle on the range.
  • Keeping a rifle clean.
  • Safe storing for a firearm and ammunition.

Each student who demonstrates the ability to handle a firearm safely will get to fire a .22 caliber rifle on the range. He or she will get to keep a target and receive a certificate of successful completion of our Youth First Shots program.

Please note, this program is not designed to take the place of a parent's supervision and education of their child concerning firearms. This class is designed to enhance that knowledge and/or give parents a starting point in educating their children regarding firearm safety and use.

Due to the size of the classroom, parents will not be allowed to sit in on the class. However, they are more than welcome to watch them on the range.

Cost for this class is $19.95 and includes all materials.

A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign the liability release form when bringing the student to class.

For more information, please contact us at the range. 614 939-4867, Extension 6

DEFENSIVE HANDGUN

(Formerly Practical Concealed Carry Techniques)
Let's face it. What good is a concealed carry license if you can't get your firearm from concealment in time to use it? Can you draw and fire your concealed gun safely without shooting yourself or a bystander? CCW carries with it the responsibility to learn to draw YOUR gun, from YOUR place of concealment, and actually fire it.

This course will give you the experience of drawing YOUR firearm from YOUR concealment and shooting it during multiple scenarios.

You will learn the following:
1. The safe way to draw and fire from a holster, purse, fanny pack, coat, etc.
2. Shoot and no shoot situations.
3. Shooting and moving.
4. Multiple shot techniques.
5. And, a couple of surprises that we keep under our hat, until class time, that we guarantee you will enjoy.

Class size is limited, and they fill up early. For information on the next available course, call 939-GUNS, ext. 6.

This is a class that you are sure to tell your friends of on how much you learned and how much fun you had learning!
